Groet,

Karen

this common species, which is in section Cylindrolobus, occurs in
rainforests in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra and Borneo. It
produces 1-few nodding white flowers at a time from nodes near the top of
the stem. Although the flowers are large for an Eria, they last less than
one day.

I can't tell you how to grow it, but I can tell you where it grows. In the
wild it grows in moderate to deep shade in tropical lowland rainforests
(where it is usually epiphytic) and lower montane forests (where it may be
epiphytic but is more commonly lithophytic) .... an altitude range from
sea-level to at least 1200 metres. The lowland rainforests can be either the
"ever-wet" type (rainfall all year round) or the monsoonal type with some
seasonal fluctuation in rainfall. When growing in montane forests, it
prefers places with rainfall all year round. Montane forest plants can have
stems up to 80-90 cm long (I suspect these giants are a genetic variation,
but I have no prove of this), while the lowland plants are usually 25-40 cm
tall.

Most Erias are highly susceptible to stem-rot, so don't let it get wet feet.
